University Of Arizona
Student Success District
The University of Arizona’s Student Success District reimagines a portion of campus to create a vibrant and cohesive district, expanding and modernizing the resources available to students. The project renovates three existing buildings—the main library, the Bear Down Gym, and the science-engineering library—and adds the new Bartlett Center for Academic Success.
The lighting design for the buildings and surrounding site emphasizes connection and flow between the facilities, providing comfortable yet visually engaging illumination for various space types, including technology classrooms, student resource rooms, maker spaces, and open collaboration and study spaces. The renovation of the iconic 1926 Bear Down Gym introduces new programs and technology, maintains and highlights the building's architectural character and a portion of the original court, and creates a truly one-of-a-kind hub for student activities.
The design embraces energy-efficient lighting, daylight harvesting controls, and light pollution reduction, and aligns with the university’s reputation for environmental stewardship and sustainability.
