Seven Acre Dairy Company
Paoli Creamery Renovation Lighting Design

This historic cheese factory, built in 1888 on the banks of the Sugar River in Paoli, Wisconsin, has been transformed into a destination for dairy lovers, featuring an upscale restaurant and bar, boutique hotel, and micro-dairy plant producing artisanal butter and ice cream.

Maintaining the factory's historical character, protected by the National Register of Historic Places, was an important driver of the design. The lighting design pays homage to this history through the interplay of rustic farmhouse and industrial aesthetics, each predominantly used in specific portions of the building, giving each program area a distinct feel while maintaining overall cohesion through period-appropriate luminaire selections.

The lighting approach is multi-layered, offering soft ambient illumination alongside more visible decorative fixtures that serve as statement pieces and visual landmarks. Accent lighting highlights the textures, historical artifacts, and artwork that lend each space a unique character.
