Sarasota Memorial Health Care System
Oncology Center

In Sarasota Memorial’s latest addition to the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute, Pivotal provided lighting design services for the public spaces, supporting the full continuum of cancer care within the new nine-story inpatient and surgical tower. An indirect-lit cove, combined with decorative pendants mounted at varying heights, creates a glittering necklace along the perimeter curved facades of the new registration area and multidisciplinary cancer conference space, which flank the vehicular access to the existing main hospital drop-off. Within the conference space, Pivotal integrated low-glare multi-cell downlights at the ends of the wood ceiling panels to minimize ceiling brightness, keeping the focus on the presentation wall.

At the rooftop café, mullion-mounted indirect luminaires on both the interior and exterior faces of the façade balance daylight brightness and provide soft ambient illumination for the rooftop terrace at night. Linear red, green, blue, and white color-changing luminaires behind sculptural wall panels foster a visually engaging yet calming environment.
