Leah Robinson
Senior Lighting Designer
Leah Robinson's fascination with the built environment began in middle school when she discovered trace paper and started drawing floorplans. Declaring that she was going to be an architect, her mother steered her toward engineering, and about a decade later, she graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering. In university, Leah acquired a fundamental understanding of building systems, including the principles of light generation, how light shapes the environment, and human perception of light.
After immersing herself in the intricacies of various electrical systems during her tenure as an engineer at Affiliated Engineers, Inc., lighting stood out as the most dynamic aspect of any project. Nurtured by a variety of mentors, Leah sought to learn and grow as a lighting systems specialist and eventually transitioned to a lighting design role with the Pivotal team. Leah finds inspiration in the individuals who work and learn in the numerous academic facilities she assisted with for over a decade. Beginning with a focus on people and their activities, she strives to enhance functionality while leveraging light to accentuate the architectural form.
When she is not working to advance the art and science of light, Leah indulges in bike rides, baking and cooking, family games, movie nights, and any activity that brings people together.
