Grant Kightlinger
Senior Lighting Designer
Grant Kightlinger is intrigued by the dual nature of lighting design as simultaneously abstract and concrete, presenting opportunities for both out-of-the-box creativity and in-depth technical analysis. He is particularly interested in architectural integration, light and health, color science, design visualization, and the reinforcement of overarching concepts using light as a medium.
He attended Penn State University, graduating with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in architectural engineering in 2010. Later, Grant relocated from Pennsylvania to Chicago, accumulating six years of professional lighting design experience before joining Pivotal in 2016. He has contributed to numerous unique and successful projects across varied markets, several of which have been recognized with the Illuminating Engineering Society’s Awards of Merit. Additionally, Grant has developed and presented multiple American Institute of Architects-accredited discussions surrounding lighting topics for industry partners.
Outside of work, Grant enjoys spending time with his family, visiting breweries, and honing his graphic design skills.
