We All Need Rainbows – An Educational Comic Illustrating Cincinnati Children’s Spectral Lighting System

ZGF Architects and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center created an educational comic book titled “We All Need Rainbows” to educate patients, families, and staff about the innovative spectral lighting system in the hospital’s neonatal intensive care units (NICU), in which Pivotal played a key role in developing.

The comic book provides an engaging and accessible way to share this novel spectral lighting system with a broad audience, conveying its functionality, health advantages, and underlying scientific principles. Covering topics ranging from physics to ocular biology to lighting design, the comic emphasizes the significance of light in human health and outlines how the NICU patient rooms at Cincinnati Children’s are meticulously configured to enhance the lighting environment for the growth and well-being of infants.
